App requirements
MagicTranslate 1.0 requires macOS 15 or later and Apple silicon. Live Captions require macOS 26 or later.

Permissions and privacy
- The Mac App Store build does not request or use macOS Accessibility permission.
- Copy text in another app, then press Option-D to translate it. If the clipboard is empty, MagicTranslate opens its own input window.
- Screen Recording is requested only when you deliberately start screenshot OCR/translation; System Audio Recording is requested only when you deliberately start Live Captions (system audio only, never the microphone; a rare fallback path may use the Screen Recording channel instead).
- Default caption transcription, Vision OCR, Apple translation, and system speech run on the device. Optional cloud services are disabled by default and require your own credentials.
